about

Floorboards and Forewords is about trusting God is providential in pain, and that He will never leave nor forsake us. It's about running our respective races despite any mental ailments or whatever the case may be. The title also contains a double entendre, substituting Forewords (introductory words that preface a work) for Forward, the direction in which we're called to keep moving.

lyrics

Verse 1

my impairment's less apparent than someone afflicted physically, feelin'

empty admittedly, less of what I was meant to be mentally, diagnosed

clinically, imbalanced chemically with this pen as an extension of all the

grief that it's given me

and every breath is a precious gift, but let me preface this lexical

exegesis with a glimpse of the mental illness I wrestle with

Feels like I'm standing on a ledge of this precipice

lookin down upon these people livin life like it's effortless

that's the unfortunate portrait unless my distorted perspective

shifts, I've been arrested by this restlessness

still I'm clinging to my faith and all that i believe in even when it seems

like every demon's overarching reason for even breathin is creepin in

my dreams whether I'm awake or if I'm sleepin, deceivin' my heart until

every word that departs is a poisonous dart when speaking,

it's hard to walk by faith with all these floorboards creakin' I'm feeling

sea sick and sinkin but...

Hook/Chorus

(It's not over) In spite of what the serpents say,

There's purpose in these labor pains,

They all give birth to greater things

Verse 2 (Beleaf)

*will add lyrics eventually*

Verse 3

It's because I've been to hell and back that I recognize what heaven is,

everything I've lost in fact reminds me where my treasure is/

buried like His body was, resurrected in reverence,

my sinner's debt's been paid in full and death is simply severance

from everything that threatens disconnection from His presence

This

broken past of smoke and ash is nothing short of Heaven scent/

the Spirit seals the sacrament tighter casket lids,

graphically depicted is this gift, that's why I rapping it

with gritty flows masquerading as pretty bows

like a melodically methodical prodigal returning to my Father when

my darkest thoughts never thought it was possible/

so when I'm reaching for reasons to keep believing and striving my

mind's reminded the good work begun in this heathen will some day be

seen to completion, and though my heart is weakened in the time and

season still believe the Shepherd feeds His sheep and never leaves 'em

This second use implies that a form cannot be derived by rule and hence it must be learned as an indivisible whole during language acquisition and stored in the lexicon in its full, unalterable form. ... more
